Reportedly, Manchester United has identified Everton defender Branthwaite as one of their main targets for the summer transfer window. Sir Rattlecliff, the new and old boss in charge of the club's football operations, has held discussions on transfer targets for the summer window and has drawn up a list of potential signings, with 21-year-old Branthwaite topping the list. Despite only making 31 appearances for Everton, he has made a strong impression on Man United scouts and manager Ten Hag.

Despite Ten Hag's uncertain future at Manchester United, the club will continue to pursue Branthwaite, even if Ten Hag is sacked. Against the backdrop of stricter financial fair play rules, Rattlecliff is keen on investing in young local talent, who can bring the greatest return on investment to Manchester United.

With Varane expected to leave Old Trafford this summer and Maguire's future uncertain, Manchester United is seeking reinforcements in defense. Everton signed Branthwaite for £1 million in 2020, and he has since become one of the most coveted young defenders in Europe, with Real Madrid also showing interest in him.

Branthwaite renewed his contract with Everton until 2027 in October last year, but with Everton possibly facing further points deductions, the club may be forced to sell some players. Everton's asking price for Branthwaite is at least £75 million, but considering his relatively limited experience in top-tier leagues, Manchester United will seek to lower this price to close to the £50 million mark.

Branthwaite has already made six appearances for the England U21 national team and may be called up to Gareth Southgate's senior England national team for the first time this week.

Manchester United, if you want to get back into the Champions League and win the league, invest a bit more! Yet another good player has been poached by someone else? Do you even want to revive the club???

Manchester United's signings usually come at a relatively high price.
