Since joining Manchester United, goalkeeper Onana has been surrounded by controversy, with several high-profile mistakes leading to criticism. However, his recent statistics defy common perception, with Onana's save data arguably topping the Premier League. In the last 11 matches, while Manchester United faced 237 shots on goal, Onana conceded only 16 goals, a remarkable feat.

Onana's early days at Manchester United were undoubtedly challenging, with his errors potentially contributing to the team's elimination from the Champions League group stage. Fortunately, Onana's form has gradually improved, culminating in his best save data since joining the club. In the recent 11 matches, he faced 66 shots on target, conceding only 16 goals. The gap between Manchester United's Premier League goals conceded (40) and their expected goals conceded (53) is the largest in the league. Additionally, this season, only Thomas Kaminski and Alphonse Areola have made more saves than Onana's 108.

While Onana's save data is exceptional, it prompts reflection on Manchester United's overall performance. As a traditional powerhouse in the Premier League, Manchester United should not be facing such a high volume of shots. However, their frequent exposure to shots reflects inadequacies in the team's defensive capabilities. While Onana's signing aimed to improve the team's defensive abilities and control of the game, it has not yet addressed these issues, with his saves becoming the highlight instead.

The £47 million investment in Onana cannot yet be considered a successful transfer. Despite his impressive save data, the previous Manchester United goalkeeper, De Gea, possessed stronger saving abilities. If Manchester United fails to resolve their defensive issues, the hefty investment in Onana may only be seen as a change in goalkeeping strategy, rather than a complete success.

Onana is only 28 years old now, which is still considered a stage of career advancement for goalkeepers. On the other hand, De Gea is already 35 years old and has been struggling a bit in recent years. The Spanish national team hasn't called up De Gea for a while now, and since leaving Manchester United, he hasn't found a new club despite being a free agent, indicating that goalkeepers like De Gea may not be suitable for modern football tactics anymore. So, Onana is not only Tenghage's trusted ally and a means to improve Manchester United's backline passing ability but also a vital part of United's plan to refresh and upgrade the goalkeeper position.

Onana himself has the capability, as evidenced by his move from Ajax to Inter Milan, where he has been performing quite well. His recent performances at Manchester United have also shown improvement, indicating that he is starting to adapt to the rhythm of the Premier League, which is much faster than Serie A. For Manchester United, they need to provide more protection for the goalkeeper position in the defense. Onana's biggest weakness lies in his performance on the goal line. If the entire defense can coordinate well, the team's defensive capabilities will undergo a qualitative improvement, which is crucial for Manchester United.

I believe Onana will continue to perform excellently, and I also hope that Manchester United will achieve good results in the next season.

I didn't realize Onana still had the capability. All the previous clowning around is in the past now. Hopefully, Onana can perform well in the future and help Manchester United!

Onana is truly a goalkeeper sensation. My impression of him is quite amusing. He has the kind of appearance that belongs to the comedic genre. Just seeing one of his casual gestures makes me want to laugh. I really adore him. This funny guy, haha! I'll continue to follow Onana and see if he can perform heroically and help Manchester United achieve better results.

I stopped watching Manchester United over a decade ago, ever since Mourinho was unceremoniously shown the door by the club. I feel like this club has been corroded by capital, losing its original intentions. It's solely focused on draining the passion of the fans and capitalizing on their loyalty. What significant progress can be made by these profit-hungry vampires? I reckon the fans watching Manchester United now must be locals, right?
