Transfers are common in the football world, and it's rare for players to stay with one team forever. Generally, when a player scores against their former club, they usually choose not to celebrate to show respect. However, there are exceptions, like Arsenal's Havertz, who scored twice against Chelsea and celebrated with a slide. This sparked criticism from Chelsea fans.

Arsenal recently defeated Chelsea 5-0 in a London derby, with Havertz, who transferred from Chelsea to Arsenal, scoring two goals. However, his celebration after the first goal, featuring his signature face gesture and slide, stirred controversy.

Normally, players refrain from celebrating against their former clubs, especially considering Havertz's departure from Chelsea wasn't contentious. When he left, he even wrote a heartfelt letter thanking Chelsea fans for their support. Therefore, Havertz's celebration seemed out of place, and it's unclear what happened behind the scenes.

Havertz's post-match social media photo of his celebration further angered Chelsea fans, who believe he shouldn't have done it. Some expressed feeling hurt because they supported Havertz. As an Arsenal fan, I understands the sentiments of Chelsea fans, having encountered similar situations before. Therefore, in my opinion, unless relations have soured completely, players shouldn't celebrate against their former clubs.

What's your opinion on Havertz's celebration? Feel free to share!

It's indeed not right to celebrate, it's unfair...

This action can be viewed differently from every angle. For example, Havertz might have simply wanted to express his celebration of victory at his new club, while lacking consideration for his former club or the fans.

When players face their former clubs, if they don't make an effort or celebrate goals, the new team may take offense, feeling they're not fully committed. Conversely, if they score plenty and celebrate wildly, fans of the old team might see it as lacking emotional intelligence or being disloyal. It's like navigating life—finding the right balance is crucial.

Actually, it's not that bad, right? Maybe it's just a humorous way of joking around? Just avoid doing anything impolite when celebrating. I think there was an incident like this during the last World Cup.

Although Havertz's performance at Chelsea has been mediocre, he has still made a contribution. Without Havertz, Chelsea might not have won the Champions League title back then. When he left Chelsea, he also left behind a hefty transfer fee for the club, so on the surface, Havertz and Chelsea can be considered to have parted amicably. However, during his time at Chelsea, Havertz was often criticized and even abused by Chelsea fans, so there might still be some resentment in his heart. Now, in terms of strength and performance, Arsenal seems to have the upper hand, and Havertz's performance this season has been quite good. Therefore, his passionate celebration after scoring against Chelsea may carry a feeling of revenge. But I don't think it's necessary. After all, Chelsea is still his former club, and they are already going through a tough time, with several years of poor results. It wouldn't reflect well on his character to kick them when they're down. Fans may start to view Havertz with disdain, and Chelsea fans might resent him even more. It's better to be loved by others than hated by oneself. So, I hope Havertz can keep a low profile, perform well, and maybe even help Arsenal win their first league title in 20 years.

Under normal circumstances, these unwritten rules apply to most situations and people. However, if there have been unpleasant experiences with a former club in the past, it's normal to celebrate vigorously.

Regarding the players, this Chelsea squad is mostly composed of players who were bought in over the past year or so, and Havertz hasn't worked with many of them. Furthermore, at the time, Havertz was essentially shown the door by Chelsea, being pushed out.

Indeed, finding the right balance is crucial. I think Havertz went a bit too far, celebrating is fine, but avoiding excessive antics would be better.
