Manchester United legend forward, Rooney, made astonishing remarks a few days ago. Following Manchester United's home loss to Arsenal due to a shortage of players, Rooney suggested that many of United's so-called "injured" players might be feigning injuries, motivated by a desire to "protect" themselves!
With a recent spate of injuries plaguing Manchester United, especially in defense, where all the main and backup players are almost sidelined, even forcing midfielder Casemiro to play as a center-back, the impact of injuries on the team is evident. Additionally, with midfield linchpin Bruno Fernandes also injured and forward Rashford among others, United's injury crisis has directly affected their performance, with 14 league losses breaking their worst-ever record.
Rooney, as a Manchester United icon attending the matches, also expressed his views on the game, delivering explosive opinions. He suggested that the reason for United's player shortage is straightforward: some players, with the impending European Championship, opt to "continue" their injuries to ensure their availability for the upcoming tournament, hence choosing to sit out matches.
Furthermore, amidst a gloomy atmosphere within the squad, he also indicated that some players might be temporarily avoiding returning to play due to the dismal team atmosphere. Rooney's comments have naturally sparked controversy, but United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer insists that keeping injured players from rushing back is to protect them. Despite the shortage of players, United only lost at home by a single goal to Arsenal, currently competing for the title, indicating, in his view, that the team has reached its limits for now. |
