Tonight, the Euro Cup will witness a heavyweight clash as Germany hosts Spain, currently the team in the best form. These two traditional powerhouses, with countless honors in world football, are set for a titanic battle, and some pre-match verbal sparring is inevitable.

Germany's results over the past six years haven't been stellar, with two consecutive exits from the World Cup group stages being a perpetual pain in their hearts. However, the arrival of young coach Julian Nagelsmann has changed this German team. With 10 goals scored, Germany is the team with the most potent attack in this tournament. On the other hand, Spain has scored a total of 9 goals, so the intensity of this match is easily imaginable.

There has already been some "friendly" verbal exchange between the two sides before the match. Germany's midfield anchor, Toni Kroos, who has announced his retirement from La Liga giant Real Madrid, is playing his last tournament in this Euro Cup. He shares a teammate relationship at Real Madrid with Spain's forward Joselu. In a pre-match interview, Joselu expressed his hope that this Euro Cup quarter-final would be Kroos' last game of his career.

In response to his clubmate's comments, Kroos stated that he wouldn't let him have his way, emphasizing that Germany is not afraid of any team. German coach Nagelsmann also remarked that it's time for Germany to prove themselves. From my personal observation, I believe these are the two best-performing teams in this tournament, making this match a preview of the final. I am quite looking forward to it!

The competition on the battlefield will inevitably be reflected in public opinion before and after the match. This is a given. The war of words is also part of the battle, and this principle applies to any confrontation in any field. Therefore, it would be abnormal if these two teams didn't engage in some pre-match trash talk.

No matter how much they bicker, the real battle is what matters most. The results of the actual match are what everyone is eagerly anticipating and it provides a kind of mental enjoyment for many.

So, listen to what they have to say, but more importantly, watch what they do. Eat well, drink well, sleep well, and then be fully energized to enjoy the match!

Germany is already out, but Spain has seen the emergence of a prodigy in this tournament: Lamine Yamal. A few days ago, when I watched Spain play against Germany, I was absolutely astonished. His speed is incredible, and his ball control is extremely refined. Especially his crosses—they are truly penetrating. In that match, he made a pass that cut through four defenders. What does that mean? Only peak Xavi could achieve something like that! His cut-ins with his weaker foot to curl the ball to the far post are simply a bug in the system. Several times, when Spain forced corners from Germany’s defense, they used Yamal for tactical plays. When attacking on the flanks, it was clear that Yamal was the focal point. With many tactical systems revolving around Yamal, the options are broad and the flexibility is high, showcasing his characteristics to the fullest.

On the other hand, looking at Germany, midfielders like Kroos and Gündoğan are more skilled at passing rather than physical confrontation. In this match, Kroos not only lost the game but also hurt Pedri, forcing him to withdraw from the European Championship. Although Germany’s tactics made Spain very passive at the beginning, Spain quickly adjusted. Even with Pedri’s injury, they managed to adapt. It’s just a pity that Germany lacked a bit of luck. Müller and Kroos are getting old, and their impact isn’t as strong as Spain’s. Germany played well but was just a bit unlucky. After Spain scored the final goal, they eased off, made various substitutions, and focused on defense. There was even a very clear handball that wasn’t called, indicating they didn’t want Germany to advance to the semi-finals. It was clearly a handball by Spain, intentionally ignored. But the outcome was decided—Germany is out. Analyzing it now is pointless. This is the football we love and hate!

"It's such a pity that this quarter-final was Kroos's final match of his career, as the Germans were eliminated and sent home by the Spanish. Both teams showed outstanding form throughout this Euro Cup, starting strong from the group stage. It's just unfortunate how fate played out—two of the best-performing teams met early in the quarter-finals, prompting many to label this match as an early final. In the end, Spain had the last laugh, securing victory in extra time with a decisive goal in the final moments, firmly holding the destiny in their hands.

For Germany's young players, there will be opportunities in the next Euro Cup, but for many of Germany's veteran players, this marks their farewell to the European Championship stage. Players like the retired Kroos, the 35-year-old veteran Müller, and the 38-year-old goalkeeper Neuer are unlikely to participate in the next Euro Cup, making the lack of a Euro Cup title the biggest regret of their careers. Especially for Kroos, who retired arguably too early despite being at his peak. Unfortunately, that's football—the team that performs better ultimately advances. This time, Spain had the last laugh, so let's join in wishing them well. Hopefully, this young Spanish national team can bring home the championship that has eluded them for 12 years. We also wish the best for Germany, hoping they can showcase even better performances and achieve excellent results in the World Cup two years from now."

I didn't watch this match. I watched England the night before... The players didn't seem to have much chemistry... it was a bit dull...

The teams with potential to win the European Championship this year are playing dull football, which I find rather uninspiring. On the other hand, the teams with no hope of winning the title are playing more entertaining football.
