Shreyas Iyer disappointed again in the first innings of the second Test against England. He was out for 27 off 59 balls and was caught behind off Tom Hartley’s bowling. Kevin Pietersen slammed Shreyas Iyer’s batting, calling his knock ‘sloppy’ and saying, “I want hungry players in my dressing room, not like that”. He said that Shreyas Iyer and Yashasvi Jaiswal had a good partnership of 90 runs but Shreyas Iyer threw his wicket away on a bad ball from spinner Tom Hartley. Kevin Pietersen said that Shreyas Iyer would regret not scoring big when he had the chance. He said that when Kohli and other senior players come back [KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja], it would be hard for Shreyas Iyer to keep his place in the team. He said that Shreyas Iyer was not impressive at all and he should have shown more determination. He said that Shreyas Iyer was too sloppy and that was the word for him. He said this on Jio Cinema. India lost the first Test in Hyderabad by 28 runs and now they want to win the second Test to make it 1-1 and then take the lead in the last three matches of the series.
