Former India cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar praised Ashwin for his bowling performance so far. Manjrekar said that Ashwin has handled England’s strategy of playing sweeps against him very well and has also changed his pace according to the situation. Manjrekar also said that Ashwin has gone back to the old-fashioned way of giving more flight to the ball to get wickets. Manjrekar said that when the bowler bowls with a flatter trajectory, it becomes easier for the batsman to play the sweep shot. Manjrekar said that this was the smartness of Ashwin that he used to get wickets in the second innings on a pitch that had nothing for him. India’s spin wizard Ravichandran Ashwin is close to achieving a rare feat in Test cricket. He has taken 499 Test wickets so far and needs just one more to join the exclusive club of bowlers with 500 or more Test wickets. He will be the second Indian after Anil Kumble to reach this milestone.

I think Manjrekar's analysis of Ashwin's bowling is true he bowled very well in the first as well as in the second test match against England

he is the most important member of India's spin trio, however, the Indian team has to find ways to cope with England's Bazzball approach
