In the world of football, player transactions are numerous, with many players coming and going. Among them, the most common are those labeled as "flops." Manchester United has historically purchased many players labeled as such, but when it comes to the most disappointing, Anthony from Ajax in the Eredivisie stands out. He was brought in for a hefty €100 million, but even if Manchester United were to offer him at half price, wealthy clubs like those from Saudi Arabia show no interest in acquiring him.

Anthony has had a dismal performance this season. Despite 27 rounds of Premier League matches, he has yet to score a goal or provide an assist. His poor showing has led Manchester United's manager, Ten Hag, to relegate him to the bench. Although Ten Hag later stated in the news that he hadn't abandoned Anthony and that his absence was due to tactical reasons, fans knew better. Anthony, the million-dollar man, was effectively sidelined.

Anthony himself earns a staggering £200,000 per week, making him one of the highest-paid players on the team. To alleviate the financial burden, Manchester United wants to sell him, but his poor performance has made European clubs uninterested. Even with a 60% reduction in the transfer fee, which amounts to €40 million, no club is willing to take him. This lack of interest raises concerns about Anthony's future.

What's even more embarrassing is that Saudi Arabia is currently aggressively buying stars for their league. However, even for the wealthy Saudis, acquiring Anthony is unappealing due to his tarnished image from domestic violence incidents and lack of outstanding skills. Therefore, unless Manchester United further reduces the transfer fee demands and Anthony lowers his wage demands, his career is likely to stagnate at Manchester United.

It's tough for Manchester United to get rid of Anthony despite his poor performance. Hopefully, one day he'll turn things around and perform better.

Retirement might not be imminent, but if the performance doesn't improve, leaving the top five leagues is likely.

I used to quite like Manchester United, but now I feel nothing for them. The owner only cares about sucking blood for money, never bothering about the brand effects and fans' feelings. They buy these goods, employ rubbish coaches, and look at what a bunch of junk they've become. This kind of team is doomed not to fail. Who knows if this Anthony guy was bought over to launder money? Manchester United is now ruled by fraudsters and thugs, still making money off fans' emotions, it's downright shameless!

It seemed like Anthony played for Manchester City the other day, but his performance was just average. I wonder if it's a player issue or a coaching problem.

The fact that Anthony was brought into Manchester United for a hundred million indicates that he performed quite well at Ajax. However, why he has turned out like this now is something that needs to be looked into. If it's a matter of not adapting well, that's easy to solve, but if his skills have declined, then it's game over.

Regardless, nowadays, no one seems to want him, which is a pity. Anthony needs to find the reasons and a way out for himself; otherwise, he's done for. No one will pity him. In tragedies, one must save themselves. After all, there's no team willing to take random chances.

It makes me think that Manchester United might be laundering money through the player transfer market, otherwise, how else can one understand the senseless and chaotic buying spree?

Anthony is truly a massive flop, and I can't fathom how Manchester United spent a hundred million on acquiring such a player. In the Eredivisie, where attacking is prioritized, Anthony's stats might have seemed acceptable. However, the Premier League's intensity is at least two or three levels higher than that of the Eredivisie. Players who perform well in the Eredivisie usually don't match up to Anthony's stats. Manchester United's performance over the past few years proves this point. Anthony is truly worthless; a Brazilian player worth a hundred million who can't dribble is just laughable. In recent matches, Anthony hasn't even made it to the starting lineup. Most of Manchester United's threats were created by Sancho, who won two penalties for the team. Such explosiveness is what Manchester United needs in a winger. As Sancho's performance shines, Anthony's position becomes increasingly awkward. Furthermore, in this round of matches, Sancho, who is currently in Germany, also performed exceptionally well. Even if Ten Hag doesn't take over this summer and Sancho doesn't return to Manchester United, I doubt Anthony will stay. The only question is how much money Manchester United will lose. Ha ha
