"Do you remember this scene from the World Cup? Who is this old man holding the trophy?

He is the most loyal fan of the Brazilian national team! How loyal is he? He suffered from cancer for 9 years but never left their side!
His name is Fernandes.
Let's go back to the 2014 World Cup semi-finals. The host nation, Brazil, faced a humiliating defeat on home soil!
They were defeated by the German national team with a score of 7-1.

At that moment, an elderly man in the stands was seen shedding tears while holding the World Cup trophy...
This scene also moved football fans all over the world!
Fernandes' tears were filled with reluctance and farewell. He understood that at that moment, he was not only bidding farewell to the Brazilian team but also to his own life.

By that time, he had been battling cancer for nearly 10 years. Since 1990, Fernandes had been following the Brazilian team to various destinations.
He had traveled to nearly 66 countries in total, participating in 7 World Cups, 6 Copa America tournaments, and 1 Olympics.

He had witnessed 154 matches of the Brazilian national team and had witnessed the team winning the World Cup championship twice. Fernandes also had a special habit.
Every time he watched the World Cup, he would bring a model of the World Cup trophy, hoping to bring good luck to the Brazilian team.
He was affectionately known as the ""12th man of the Brazilian team"" by the fans, but misfortune unfortunately struck Fernandes.

In 2006, he was suddenly diagnosed with cancer, plunging his life into a dark abyss.
But this didn't dampen Fernandes' passion for football. Even though he was suffering from the disease, he would still travel to various stadiums to support the Brazilian team.

The heart-wrenching scene at the 2014 World Cup, after Brazil's elimination, was a moment that fans couldn't forget. After the match, Fernandes even gave his trophy model to a German female fan sitting nearby.
He was hailed as the embodiment of ""true sportsmanship.""
As Brazil was eliminated, Fernandes' life also came to an end in September 2015 at the age of 60.

Before his departure, he told his family that he wanted his ashes to be scattered on the playing field of the Brazilian national team: ""I want to forever follow my beloved Brazilian team."""
