I've lived for over thirty years, and I still feel like I haven't quite figured it all out. This morning, my child, who is just a few years old, asked me, "What is the meaning of life?" That question caught me off guard. I didn't know how to respond, so I told her, "Let Daddy think about it. I'll tell you the answer when you come back from school." After sending her off to school, I couldn't stop thinking about the question. I pondered it for hours. What is the meaning of life? I couldn't come up with an immediate answer. But then I thought, life is made up of small moments of joy and all kinds of experiences, both bitter and sweet. There's sweetness to cherish and bitterness to let go. The meaning of life lies in pursuing different stages of fulfillment. For instance, if you're a newborn, you might just want some milk every day. If you're a schoolchild, getting a perfect score on a test might be your goal. And if you're a corporate employee, you might be thinking about how to add more value to your company to secure a promotion and raise. Every person's life has a different meaning, and there's no specific answer to this question. Everyone pursues different things, so the efforts they put in also vary. Some people want to win money every day, so they specialize in various gambling games to increase their income. Others prioritize physical health and want to live longer, so they exercise more and eat healthier. Alright, I've figured out how to answer my daughter's question. The meaning of life is to pursue happiness and joy, and then to put in efforts and sacrifices to achieve that happiness and joy. Finally, when you attain the happiness and joy you desire, that's enough! |
