HT has reliably learned that upon Rahul's return and his successful fitness assessment during practice sessions, Samson, who had initially been included as a backup in India's Asia Cup squad, has been released from the team.
Sanju Samson is no longer a part of India's Asia Cup squad, with the decision being made by the Indian team management upon KL Rahul's reintegration into the squad during the Super 4 stage of the tournament. Samson was initially brought in as a contingency plan for Rahul, who was unavailable for the group-stage matches against Pakistan and Nepal due to a minor injury. However, Rahul has since made a full recovery and received clearance from the National Academy Cricket Academy in Bengaluru, leading to Samson's release from the squad.
