In recent years, Europa League matches have become increasingly exciting due to the inclusion of more top teams, which have been diverted to the competition. Although the Europa League is often dubbed the game of losers, it is still a prestigious championship spanning the entire European continent. After all, it's only one tier below the Champions League. The final of this season's Europa League will kick off at 3 a.m. on May 23rd, featuring Atalanta and Bayer Leverkusen, two teams that have never won a European title. Let's see who will clinch their first Europa League trophy together.

Atalanta, a team from Serie A, is known as the "Genuine Nerazzurri". Before 2017, they were a mid-table team in Serie A, but suddenly rose to prominence that season. Since then, they have consistently ranked in the top half of the table, even finishing as Serie A runners-up for several seasons. Atalanta's best European performance was reaching the semifinals of the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup in the 1987-88 season. They also reached the quarterfinals of the Champions League in 2020, which was a remarkable achievement for this small club. This season, Atalanta has again shown their prowess by reaching the final of a European competition for the first time in their history. Their performance in the league has been decent, finishing fifth and securing qualification for the next Champions League season, which has significantly boosted the club's finances. Atalanta is known for their strong attacking prowess, with goals distributed evenly among several players, making them difficult to defend against. They are currently in good form, winning four out of their last five matches. They definitely have the strength to compete with Bayer Leverkusen.

Bayer Leverkusen, a team from the Bundesliga, is nicknamed "the pharmaceutical company". Before this season, Leverkusen was often considered unlucky, frequently faltering when contending for titles. However, this season they have undergone a transformation, maintaining an undefeated record and clinching the Bundesliga title. Leverkusen's performance this season has been outstanding, with 28 wins and 6 draws out of 34 league matches, scoring 89 goals and conceding only 24, even better than Bayern Munich's performance during their consecutive title-winning seasons. Leverkusen's goal distribution is also very balanced, with none of their players among the top eight scorers in the Bundesliga, indicating their strength as a team. While Leverkusen has reached the final of the Champions League before, they have never won a European title, making this season's Europa League final a chance to fulfill their dreams.

In terms of strength, Leverkusen is undoubtedly much stronger than Atalanta. They have shown resilience throughout the season, capable of equalizing or even turning around games when trailing, and maintaining pressure on opponents when leading. Their coach, Alonso, is experienced in big games, giving them an advantage over Atalanta in terms of strategy. The current handicap favors Leverkusen by half a goal, reflecting the difference in strength between the two teams. However, Atalanta's chances of avoiding defeat in 90 minutes are higher under the half-goal handicap. While more people are optimistic about Leverkusen's victory, I believe a draw after 90 minutes is highly probable. Nonetheless, I still favor Leverkusen to win the trophy in the end.

Recommendation: Atalanta +0.5
Score prediction: 1-1, 2-2

Who will win the championship? I still favor Leverkusen, but it won't be easy for them to settle the match within 90 minutes.

It would be quite funny if Bayer Leverkusen dominated all year and then lost in the final.
