Djokovic is not only the GOAT but also a highly intelligent and articulate individual. Many college students, graduate students, and even entrepreneurs and politicians struggle to articulate their thoughts as well as he does. It reminds me of the Chinese national football team. If someday they could speak like this during interviews, I believe there would be hope for Chinese football.
Especially this time, after the conclusion of the US Open, during the press conference, Djokovic discussed many issues related to the past and the future, which was very moving.
Additionally, Djokovic mentioned that Medvedev should have won the second set, but he ended up winning it in a tiebreaker. This is a characteristic we often see in Djokovic's matches – even when he might not be in better form than his opponent, he manages to win. No matter how strong and well-prepared you are, you can at most match his level, but Djokovic can often win crucial moments and close the game.
This is also where Medvedev excels or, you could say, gets lucky. In the second set of the Wimbledon final, he didn't let the pressure get to him while Djokovic didn't perform well under pressure. Of course, there's an element of luck involved too. If Medvedev had won that tiebreaker in the second set, the momentum might have been completely different, and Djokovic could have won in straight sets.
In any case, Djokovic doesn't seem to be thinking about retiring anytime soon. I believe he still has a chance even at the age of 30. I hope he stays healthy throughout his career. |
