One's daily schedule is crucial, and waking up every morning is the anticipation of embracing a beautiful day. Isn't that how we all feel? However, this particular woman wasn't so fortunate. Early that day, she received news that left her devastated.
What news could have caused such distress? It turns out she was fired by Meta company! This unlucky woman goes by the name Jenny S. On that morning at 5:55 AM, the company sent her an email announcing her termination. Jenny had started working at Meta in August 2021, a company she had always dreamt of being a part of, doing the job she loved. Last July, she even had an opportunity for promotion, becoming a 'Senior Technical Recruiter.' Recently, Jenny was handling some fantastic projects, and she never imagined she'd be let go. So, this news hit her like a double blow.
Meta's CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, stated on the 14th that, in the face of challenging economic conditions, Meta would continue to streamline and cut costs, resulting in the layoff of 10,000 employees, with 2023 being dubbed the 'efficiency year.' Zuckerberg also mentioned that the company would restructure and discontinue lower-priority projects. In his public letter that day, the 'metaverse' project was only mentioned twice, with a strong focus on artificial intelligence, now being Meta's 'largest single investment.' Does that mean the metaverse and AI will develop faster after these cost-cutting measures? We'll have to wait and see!
Believe me, layoffs are something everyone fears. Yao Er worries about others when she sees them facing layoffs. Even though they're not family, empathy kicks in, and she can feel their anxiety and sadness. In reality, if you are laid off, you should rise above it, reflect on where you could have done better, and learn from your mistakes. I refuse to believe there are so many professions in this world that you can't excel at! |
