According to India captain Rohit Sharma, Shreyas Iyer is in excellent condition and his most recent injury setback won't affect his World Cup preparations. Iyer made his comeback for the 2023 Asia Cup following a protracted absence due to a back issue that required surgery. However, he only played in one innings of batting before suffering a back spasm five minutes before the toss of India's 'Super Four' match against Pakistan. He was hence unable to play any further part in India's successful campaign.
