"Who defeated the legendary duo of C Ronaldo and Messi, who had dominated the football world for many years, to become the 2021 FIFA World Player of the Year? I think many of you clever folks may have already guessed who it is, right? That's right, it's none other than Lewandowski, who broke the Bundesliga single-season goal-scoring record with 41 goals, won the Bundesliga, German Super Cup, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup, making 60 appearances across all competitions, scoring 69 goals and providing 11 assists!
FIFA presented the 2021 FIFA Best Men's Player award at the annual awards ceremony, with Lewandowski outshining Ronaldo and Messi to retain the title of the best male football player of the year. The FIFA Best Men's Player award is given by FIFA to players who have outstanding performances in the respective year, and it is determined by votes from national team coaches and captains, more than 200 media journalists worldwide, and football fans worldwide, each accounting for 25% of the vote. Looking at the voting results, Lewandowski received 535 points from coaches, 555 points from captains, 589 points from the media, and 353,714 points from fans, with a total of 48 points, leading Messi (44 points) and Salah (39 points).
In a way, Lewandowski's award can be seen as settling previous controversies. Why do I say that? I don't know if you remember the scene where many football legends and current players were indignant on behalf of Lewandowski after Messi was awarded the 2021 Ballon d'Or. Now, with Messi winning the Ballon d'Or, Lewandowski winning the FIFA World Player of the Year, and Ronaldo receiving the FIFA Best Men's Player Special Award, each has gained recognition, and fans are all pleased." |
