A peculiar incident occurred when a couple, due to years of discord, decided to divorce after living separately for many years. However, when the wife decided to file for divorce, she discovered that her husband had passed away several months earlier. What was the underlying reason behind this?
The wife, using the alias Aunt Wang, and the husband, using the alias Uncle Zhao, had reached the point of divorce due to issues arising from the husband's neglectful behavior towards Aunt Wang and their daughter Xiao Ling after the birth of their child. Uncle Zhao rarely came home and showed little concern for them, even refusing to contribute to any family expenses. Consequently, after their daughter grew up and became an adult, they began living separately, and their marital relationship had long been practically non-existent.
Like many divorcing couples, they later signed a divorce agreement. However, in an unusual turn of events, after signing the agreement, Uncle Zhao left home before completing the formalities, disappearing without a trace. Aunt Wang, determined to proceed with the divorce, filed the lawsuit ahead of schedule. The court made efforts to contact Uncle Zhao, but even the court couldn't locate him, making the situation even more mysterious.
Exercising caution, during the court hearing, the court made a trip to the registered residence of Aunt Wang's husband. To their surprise, they discovered that Uncle Zhao had passed away long ago. What was even more shocking was that their daughter Xiao Ling had been aware of her father's death but did not report it to the court during the hearing. Under questioning by the judge, Xiao Ling revealed that she had known about her father's passing since March of this year when the hospital had contacted her to handle her father's affairs. She chose not to disclose this information to her mother, fearing it would cause her distress, as her mother would often cry when mentioning her father.
Ultimately, Xiao Ling was reprimanded in court for making false statements. However, considering that she was not a direct party in the case and expressed genuine remorse, the court merely issued a verbal warning and ordered her to submit a written reflection. Thus, this matter came to a conclusion. |
