"If you've ever played slot machines, you probably know what I mean. Why do I say slot machines can be a sweet trap? Because they surprise you when you're feeling down and about to give up, and disappoint you when you're eagerly anticipating a win.
I remember the first time I played a slot machine, I won a mega win, earning a few hundred dollars. Winning money on my first try was truly exciting, and I started to think I was incredibly lucky. After winning that round, I kept waiting for the next opportunity to hit the jackpot. Unconsciously, I ended up losing back the money I had won earlier. I was not willing to give up and kept putting in more money, thinking that playing a few more rounds would eventually lead to a big win.
Every time I was about to give up, the slot machine would give me a few small treats (small wins), comforting me that there was still a chance. And so, without realizing it, I fell into what they call a sweet trap. It's similar to a love scam—give you a few sweet moments, and you might mistake it for love." |
