In lieu of MS Dhoni's number seven, the BCCI has chosen to retire Sachin Tendulkar's number ten. Stated differently, No. 7 will remain exclusive to Indian cricketers going forward. Before making his India debut, a cricket player is usually free to select the jersey number of his choice. They can choose any number between 1 and 100, per ICC regulations, but the BCCI has reportedly told the young Indian players that they can no longer request the No. 7 jersey, according to an Indian Express story. 2017 saw Tendulkar's No. 10 removed from the list.
