December 26th News: The Athletic reporter Shams Charania participated in the Run It Back program today and discussed topics related to the Lakers' trades.
"The Lakers have been seeking to improve their lineup. We've mentioned Zach LaVine several times in the past, but he is currently sidelined due to injury, and it will be some time before he returns to play. I hope he can return in mid-January, and by then, we will know how he is doing. Another potential trade player for the Lakers that I have learned about is Atlanta Hawks guard Dejounte Murray," said Shams Charania.
"Murray has a new contract with four years and $120 million in the future, which will provide more stability for Anthony Davis and LeBron James. Of course, the Lakers need to give up multiple first-round picks, including a few first-round pick swaps. However, the Lakers are eager to trade for a star player, so they need to trade away players like Austin Reaves, Jackson Hayes, and others, as they are surely the players the other team wants," Shams Charania said.
"If a trade is made, the Lakers will need to reorganize their rotation lineup. They reached the Western Conference Finals last season, and Coach Darvin Ham is now eager to find rotation answers. Perhaps players like Reaves could be traded at that time," Shams Charania said.
So far this season, Murray has played 29 games for the Hawks, averaging 34.3 minutes per game with 20.3 points, 4.4 rebounds, 5.4 assists, and 1.55 steals. |
