Many people dream of getting rich overnight by buying lottery tickets, and I'm no exception. However, dreams are just dreams, and reality is quite harsh. Basically, we all know that the chances of winning are very slim, right?
Nevertheless, an American woman defied these slim odds. She bought a lottery ticket and won $1 million, but at the time, she thought the ticket wasn't a winner and threw it in the trash. Coincidentally, the ticket was found by the son of the lottery store owner, who, after two days of sleepless consideration with his family, decided to return it to its rightful owner.
According to American media reports, this incident occurred at a lottery store in Massachusetts. The store owner's son, Abhi Shah, stated that his mother, Aruna Shah, sold the winning ticket to a regular customer. When the customer believed the ticket was not a winner, they discarded it into the trash. It was only discovered 10 days later. Abhi Shah said, "One night, I was cleaning the trash, and I noticed this unscratched lottery ticket." After scratching the remaining numbers, it revealed a $1 million prize.
Store owner Manush Shah said that returning the lottery ticket to its rightful owner was not an easy decision. Ultimately, the family decided to return the ticket because the customer frequented the store, and they knew where to find her. Manush Shah said, "When she came in, I handed her the $1 million lottery ticket, and she was shocked. Then she sat on the floor here, crying like a baby."
One must admit, the outcome is truly remarkable, especially considering that some people might only experience such a stroke of luck once in a lifetime. Of course, we shouldn't overlook the credit due to the family who runs the lottery store for their decision. I also acknowledge that it was a difficult choice for them. If it were me, I wouldn't be certain that I wouldn't be blinded by the desire for money at that moment.
