Since leaving Barcelona to join Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), Messi's journey has not been entirely smooth, especially with the unhappy decision not to renew his contract and leave PSG. After leaving, Messi unexpectedly criticized PSG in public, claiming they never respected him. Months after the criticism, PSG President Nasser responded, stating his continuous respect for Messi but expressing dislike for post-critique.

The conflict between Messi and PSG arose after the 2022 World Cup. Messi mentioned in an interview that all Argentine players received a warm welcome upon returning to their clubs, except for himself. Instead of a welcome, he faced cold treatment and even insults from some PSG fans.

In response to Messi's comments, PSG Chairman Nasser, in an interview with the famous French radio station Monte Carlo Radio RMC, expressed his ongoing respect for Messi, acknowledging him as the world's best player. However, Nasser also admitted Messi's time at PSG had been challenging. He believed Messi shouldn't criticize his former club in this manner. PSG is a French club with French fans, and considering the recent victory of Argentina over France in the World Cup final, organizing a separate celebration for Messi would be inappropriate. Nasser emphasized the need to consider all emotions and expressed his desire for Messi not to be booed by the entire stadium.

Finally, when asked about PSG's superstar policy following Messi and Neymar's departure, Nasser's statements hinted at a policy shift. He believed PSG no longer needed a superstar policy and that they didn't require stars; today, PSG itself is the star. With rumors of Mbappe not renewing his contract, PSG seems to be undergoing a significant policy change.

Argentina indeed won the final against the French team. Messi celebrating at his former club would undoubtedly stir complex emotions among the French.

Messi criticized that Paris Saint-Germain never truly respected him, but why is it interpreted as PSG being stingy? Does giving money equate to respect?
A few days ago, if the news about Messi and Saudi Arabia is true, that would indeed leave a somewhat negative impression.

Paris didn't throw a celebratory banquet for Messi, and indeed it's because Argentina won against the French team in the final, and Paris is located in the capital of France. A lavish celebration could potentially upset fans. So, I can understand this aspect. For me, neither Messi nor Paris are good entities, and this mutual criticism seems like dogs barking at each other. Initially, no European powerhouse wanted Messi, and it was Paris that offered him a lucrative contract. When Messi first arrived at Paris, he behaved like a lapdog. However, in his first season, the main reason for Paris's Champions League exit was Messi. Nevertheless, the Paris club officially supported Messi. But Paris fans wouldn't coddle Messi, and many of them criticized him. At that point, Messi probably felt unhappy. In the following year, it was a World Cup year, and Messi and his fans were already planning to play a minimal role in Paris and save energy for the World Cup. And indeed, that's what happened. Paris continued to perform poorly, and Messi won the World Cup. This situation undoubtedly irked the Paris club officials and fans. Criticisms of Messi increased, and the Paris official stance was not as supportive. In Messi's eyes, this turned into a lack of respect. However, the problem is that Messi himself didn't respect Paris, taking the club's salary while playing a minor role. Does such behavior deserve respect from the team and fans? Anyway, as long as Argentine fans respect him, that's what matters, haha.

I believe Messi's statements may not be entirely without reason.

Actually, what Paris president Nasser said is also correct.

I think Paris is not stingy; it's just that there are many places where you need to spend money. Surely, the total expenditure is primarily covered by Mbappé. Mbappé's demands are undoubtedly met completely. It's ultimately a matter of values.
