According to former South Africa captain and administrator Graeme Smith, the more important question is what happens to ODI matches in between the World Cups. Smith recently told HT of this. "World Cups will always be very important. How much ODI cricket is played in between and how each bilateral cricket series is contextualised are the key questions, he said. Mark Nicholas, a pundit and current president of the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), claims that bilateral one-day internationals have outlived their usefulness. There is no support from the cricket fraternity for him.
