The Canberra Times reported that Andy Reynolds, a bowler for Ginninderra, had already started celebrating after witnessing the ball cross the middle stump as he attempted to clean bowl Matthew Bosustow, the opener for the Tigers. Once Bosustow realized the bails were still in place and the leg stumps were still upright, he too began to walk off towards the dug out. There appeared to be some confusion, but following a lengthy discussion between the two on-field umpires, Bosustow was ruled not out in accordance with the rules of the game.
