Before Sanju Samson, the wicketkeeper-batter for Rajasthan Royals (RR), could play in the Indian XI for the third and final Twenty20 International match against Afghanistan, he had to warm up on the bench for the first two matches. For the first two Twenty20 Internationals, Samson was passed over by the Indian think tank, who instead selected Jitesh Sharma to be the team's wicketkeeper. Samson was added to the playing XI for the dead rubber at M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru because Jitesh had scored a duck in the previous match.
