Why did Shastri warn Gill about Pujara’s threat ?

Shastri, the ex-India coach, has given a stern message to Gill, who is going through a rough patch in Tests. He said that Pujara, who is scoring tons of runs in the Ranji Trophy, is always in contention for the number 3 spot.

Gill has been out of form since he recovered from dengue, which he got during the World Cup. He failed to score big in the first Test against England in Hyderabad, where he made 23 and 0. He also got out for 34 in the second Test in Vizag.

Gil has only 189 runs in nine innings at that position, with an average of 23.62.

Shastri, who was doing commentary, told Gill and the other youngsters that they have to perform consistently to keep their places. He praised Pujara, who has been a reliable batsman for India at number 3 for a long time, and said that he is waiting for his opportunity and scoring heavily in the domestic circuit.

Shastri also pointed out Gill’s flaws in his technique and said that he has to be more patient and careful in Test cricket.
