After being sacked by Roma, Mourinho seems far from idle, engaging in various interviews to discuss his views on recent football events. Recently, he spoke with another journalist about the rift between Ronaldo and Manchester United coach,Ten Hag, attributing it to Ten Hag's management mistakes.

In the summer of 2021, Ronaldo returned to Manchester United after many years, a move seen as a fairy tale comeback. However, under the new coach, Ten Hag, Ronaldo didn't get many opportunities, leading to a rift between them. Ronaldo even gave an explosive interview before the World Cup, stating he would never respect Ten Hag because he hadn't respected him first.

Mourinho commented on the matter, saying Ten Hag's coaching style was wrong. For players like Ronaldo, he believed they didn't need coaching; the coach's role was to make tactical adjustments and ensure Ronaldo's happiness. Mourinho mentioned his time coaching Ronaldo at Real Madrid, where he didn't need to teach him much about motivation, ambition, or responsibility. According to Mourinho, for players of Ronaldo's caliber, coaches have little to offer except maximizing their tactical use.

Lastly, Mourinho couldn't escape comparing Ronaldo and Messi, stating, "Messi is the best on earth, but Ronaldo is the strongest in the universe." Despite any disagreements with Ronaldo during his time at Real Madrid, Mourinho still holds him in high regard.

After Cristiano Ronaldo arrived at Manchester United, the head coach was Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and they were considered old teammates. Regardless, both Solskjaer and Ronaldo showed mutual respect and cooperation. Then came Ralf Rangnick, who was more of a firefighting captain, as he was confirmed to coach only half a season. So, there was no need for conflict with Ronaldo. However, it's different with Ten Hag. Ten Hag's resume mainly includes creating a youth storm at Ajax. He's a young coach with a relatively blank resume and lacks much prestige. Moreover, Manchester United signed him to a four-year contract, indicating a long-term plan. With such a coach lacking in prestige but securing a long-term contract, Ronaldo became the prime target if he wanted to assert himself and establish authority. If even the most outstanding footballer of the past 15 years couldn't challenge Ten Hag, then other Manchester United players would likely have difficulty resisting. In the end, Ten Hag brought in many of his own preferred players, while Ronaldo faced continuous suppression, even being humiliated by being substituted in the final minutes of matches. These actions were Ten Hag's way of showing that he was the true master of Manchester United. In the end, Ronaldo chose to leave, and Manchester United still showed no improvement. In fact, Sir Alex Ferguson had attempted similar things before. Back then, he also wanted to get rid of Paul Pogba, but Manchester United chose to support the player and let go of Ferguson.

Mourinho can be said to be a very shrewd coach. Although he seems idle now, he is also laying the groundwork for the future. After all, expressing one's opinion is telling others about his generosity and capability. However, his remarks about Cristiano Ronaldo are indeed very insightful. For stars like Ronaldo, the coaching needed is simply to let him play to his full potential. Too much preaching and demands would only be a constraint, a restraint, causing him to decline. After all, giants are not formed easily. To make a giant achieve greatness, all you need to do is to let him stand up, and the best way to do that is to have people around him cooperate with him, rather than instructing him.

Mourinho is just good at talking, haha. But only Cristiano Ronaldo and Ten Hag know what happened between them.

Ten Hag's actions are truly a case of killing the chicken to scare the monkeys, offending many Cristiano Ronaldo fans. If Manchester United's performance doesn't improve next, Ten Hag will surely face a lot of criticism.
