The Manchester United manager's team performance has been unstable, fluctuating between winning against strong opponents and losing to lower-ranked teams. Rumors suggest that the new owner, Ratcliffe, has considered replacing him. However, due to certain reasons, United is still forced to be managed by Ten Hag. So, what are these reasons?

Since Ratcliffe acquired 27.7% of Manchester United's shares, he has emphasized the need for United to qualify for the Champions League to maintain the club's financial health. Entry into the Champions League would generate substantial revenue, allowing United to invest in more preferred and capable players. However, United's current situation is not particularly promising.

Currently, United ranks sixth, trailing fourth-placed Aston Villa by 8 points, while fifth-placed Tottenham, with a game in hand, leads by 6 points. This means that while United retains hope for a top-four finish, the challenge remains significant. Therefore, in the remaining matches, United must achieve consecutive victories and rely on rivals for a chance to overtake them. However, for the currently inconsistent United, winning every remaining match is highly unlikely.

Financial analysts have pointed out that while Ratcliffe desires Champions League qualification for United and may wish for Ten Hag's departure if not achieved, ironically, Ten Hag's inability to secure this spot could increase the likelihood of Ratcliffe sacking him. Missing out on the Champions League means a reduction of around £50 million in expected revenue, and sacking Ten Hag with a year left on his contract would cost the club approximately £12 million. This would negatively impact United's financial health. Therefore, the possibility of Ten Hag's dismissal is even smaller. Additionally, funds for hiring a new coach and buying new players are also a concern, as years of lavish spending on player acquisitions and high wages have pushed United's finances close to the red line.

Ratcliffe aims for Champions League qualification, yet United faces evident struggles. Financial pressure may keep Ten Hag in place, with the Champions League not the sole solution.

Manchester United is really plummeting right now; they need to explore other options and not let the Champions League bind them.

This suggests that Ten Hag will continue to stay at Manchester United. Given Manchester United's financial resources, they probably don't mind losing that money.

Since the 2023 season, Ten Hag has consistently been on the verge of being sacked, but whenever the pressure is at its peak, Manchester United often win a game. He truly is like a cockroach, incredibly resilient. Moreover, it seems like the team's performance is starting to stabilize. This season, it feels like he has basically secured his position, especially now that we're in the middle to late stages of the season. At this point, unless they need an interim firefighting coach, it's really not a good idea to make a change.

Manchester United's financial prowess is actually very strong, it has consistently been one of the world's highest-earning clubs. Maintaining such strong financial capabilities despite not winning the Premier League title for over a decade speaks volumes about United's operational prowess.

This season, it's practically impossible for Manchester United to secure a top-four finish because they face stiff competition from two strong opponents, Aston Villa and Tottenham. While it's conceivable for one team to falter in the later stages of the league and be overtaken by United, the likelihood of United surpassing both teams seems highly improbable. Therefore, United missing out on the Champions League next season is almost a foregone conclusion.

Currently, ten Hag is being heavily criticized, and there are strong calls for him to be sacked in the summer. However, if his retention is primarily due to the reduced income resulting from United's failure to qualify for the Champions League, then the possibility of him staying on is significant. Given ten Hag's shameless personality, he is unlikely to choose to resign. Moreover, leaving the stage of Manchester United, he probably won't find a bigger platform. Continuing for another year might even yield good results and possibly secure him a contract extension, which would be a win for him.

ten Hag currently boasts the highest win rate in the club's history, which is undoubtedly something he can be proud of. Another point to consider is that the players brought in at high prices by ten Hag are unlikely to be used by other coaches. This means there are many mediocre players in his squad. Therefore, unless absolutely necessary, it's highly probable that ten Hag will remain in the managerial position at Manchester United next season.

Back when I watched Sir Alex's last match with Manchester United 12 years ago, I still held onto a glimmer of hope. At that time, Mourinho took over the team and led them to second place. But then, Manchester United, this vampire, kept getting worse. It became evident that they were just sucking the blood out of fans. Eventually, I lost patience with them. I don't know what's good about ten Hag, maybe it's just obedience. As a result, they've hit rock bottom now. Manchester United deserves to be forgotten in the end.
