The Kings haven't defeated the Bucks since February 1, 2016, suffering 15 consecutive losses in their matchups. Today, the Kings took the lead from the start and decisively beat the Bucks 129-94, putting an end to their embarrassing streak.
The Kings had a hot shooting hand in the first half, hitting 10 out of 18 shots from beyond the arc, with a shooting percentage of 55.6%. In contrast, the Bucks only managed an 18.8% shooting rate. Despite Giannis Antetokounmpo's 22 points, the Bucks found themselves trailing by 19 points at halftime. The Bucks' offense continued to struggle in the third quarter, and the Kings opened the fourth quarter with a 12-1 run to widen the gap. With 6 minutes and 38 seconds left, the Bucks sent in their bench players as the game entered garbage time.
Kings guard De'Aaron Fox scored 29 points and dished out 7 assists, while Domantas Sabonis contributed 22 points, 11 rebounds, and 8 assists. Malik Monk, coming off the bench, added 25 points. The Bucks struggled from beyond the arc with a team shooting percentage of only 17.9%. Despite Antetokounmpo's 30 points and 13 rebounds, Damian Lillard managed to score only 10 points on 2-for-12 shooting while tallying 6 assists.
Speaking after the game, Fox emphasized the importance of defense in winning games, stating, "I think that fueled our offense. We got close to 130, even if we had only scored 110, we still would've won by 15, so I think that's the most perfect game we've played this year."
Bucks coach Doc Rivers took responsibility for the loss, admitting, "It's on me. I didn't have them ready mentally. Everybody's talking about the flight in practice. We, as a coaching staff, talked about it after practice, that if our attention wasn't there, it was going to be a long day, and it was. So, that's on me." |
