March 31st News: Recently retired NBA star Dwyane Wade discussed his views on the greatest basketball player of all time on his podcast "The Why with Dwyane Wade."
Referring to Lakers legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Wade said: "I first want to pay homage to LeBron, but what I want to emphasize more is that Jabbar, he's a big man."
"It took me a long time to realize this, but Jabbar needed to score in more difficult situations. He didn't shoot threes in that era, and he didn't have many free throws because he mainly relied on his signature hook shot to score. Since he chose the hook shot, he couldn't create a lot of contact to get to the free throw line."
"So I'm thinking, how did he score so many points? But he didn't receive the recognition he deserved. Nowadays, no one says Jabbar is the GOAT. His points all came from two-pointers, and you have to understand how slow the pace was back then, and he faced the difficulties of basketball at that time."
Abdul-Jabbar scored a total of 38,387 points in his career, ranking second on the NBA's all-time scoring list. |
