Recent Developments in the TON Ecosystem: According to Token Terminal data, TON network activity has been gradually increasing since February, with over 800,000 active addresses in the past seven days, reaching 827,100, representing a 97.8% increase compared to the previous month. With April barely half over, TON's monthly active user count has exceeded 1 million, a 121% increase over the entire month of March.
Furthermore, according to Defillama data, TON network TVL has surged by 661% over the past two months, surpassing $144 million.
Backed by Telegram, which boasts 900 million users, the potential of the TON ecosystem was originally high. Steve Yun, the president of the TON Foundation, stated in a speech that their goal is to attract 30% of Telegram's users to TON by 2028. It is projected that TON will have 500 million active users by 2028. However, over the past year, the price of TON has been fluctuating below $3.
Entering 2024, several developments from Telegram have significantly raised the expectations for TON's growth within the crypto community. First, on February 28th, it was announced that the upcoming advertising platform would use the TON network for transactions and withdrawals, with Telegram sharing revenue with channel owners based on the TON network. On March 1st, Binance launched TON contract trading.
On March 11th, Pavel Durov, the founder of Telegram, revealed in his first public interview in five years that since introducing ads and premium subscription services two years ago, the Dubai-based social media app had become one of the most popular social media platforms globally, generating "hundreds of millions of dollars" in revenue. Durov stated, "We hope to achieve profitability this year or next year, with an IPO imminent."
Based on these developments, the price of TON began to rise from around $2 in February, with a monthly increase of over 100%. Besides Telegram, the TON Foundation has recently taken numerous measures to activate the ecosystem, further boosting TON's rise. On April 1st, the TON Foundation announced the launch of the first season of the public league. This league aims to encourage more users to participate in TON ecosystem projects, with the TON Foundation distributing 30 million Toncoins to the community. TON projects will compete for bonuses every month, and TON ecosystem users can earn rewards by participating in projects.
Previously, TON had launched a two-week pilot season of the alliance, during which its TVL grew by 70%, and daily active wallets increased by 370%. This official season is even more popular, with TON's price rising by over 30% on the day of the season launch, meaning the value of rewards has exceeded $200 million.
At the Web3 conference held in Hong Kong, TON once again outlined its unique advantages in the "social scene" and introduced representative projects in the TON ecosystem. According to reports, the Web3 pet game Catizen exceeded 1.3 million game users and 210,000 daily active users and surpassed 1.7 million on-chain transactions two weeks after launching on TON.
In addition to actively operating the encrypted ecosystem, TON's integration with Telegram is deepening. Today, TON Society and the artificial intelligence project HumanCode announced a joint initiative to launch a $5 million incentive plan to introduce palm scanning to verify digital identities. HumanCode's technology allows users to verify their human identity through simple palm scanning, applicable to all smartphones. The plan aims to provide secure digital identities to 500 million Telegram users within five years. |
