RAILGUN is a privacy system built directly on Ethereum, BSC, Polygon, and Arbitrum chains. It utilizes zero-knowledge (ZK) encryption technology to achieve privacy for smart contracts and DeFi without compromising the security of the user's preferred chain.
RAILGUN refers to a set of smart contracts supporting backend privacy infrastructure. Wallet providers can choose to integrate the RAILGUN protocol.
Because RAILGUN is simply on-chain smart contract logic, it offers two main advantages for achieving privacy without the need for separate L2 validator sets or vulnerable bridges:
Security and decentralization—Fewer validator set issues and no bridging risks. RAILGUN is as secure as the EVM chains it deploys on.
Complete ecosystem—RAILGUN users have access to all economic activity on Ethereum and can benefit from the rich history of existing dApps and builders, rather than being part of an isolated ecosystem on a separate privacy chain.
The user experience is similar to interacting with Ethereum/EVM chains for liquidity and DeFi using public wallets like MetaMask, with the added ability for private transactions.
RAILGUN primarily consists of two components:
1. RAILGUN Integrated Wallets—EVM wallets built by independent community developers that allow users to utilize the RAILGUN protocol.
2. Developer Tools—TypeScript SDKs used to integrate RAILGUN privacy into existing wallets or new wallets, or into dApps with privacy protection features. |
