Arsenal, once struggling, has seen visible progress this year. Coach Mikel Arteta's efforts in rebuilding the team have garnered widespread approval, leading to discussions about whether Arteta can now be considered a top-class manager. However, a Liverpool legend, during an interview, made it clear that Arteta cannot be called a top-class manager yet, primarily because he hasn't delivered significant championships for Arsenal.

Arsenal has had a less than ideal performance in recent years, and Arteta's first two seasons as their coach couldn't be described as successful, with two sixth-place finishes. However, starting from Arteta's third season in charge, Arsenal's progress has been evident. In the previous season, despite not being favored by many, Arsenal secured the second position in the Premier League and even held the top spot for most of the season.

Arteta's successful transformation of Arsenal is plain to see, with a positive team atmosphere, one of the youngest squads in the Premier League, and an attractive style of play that reminds people of the Arsenal's peak years. In ESPN's latest ranking of the best coaches, Arteta ranked fourth, even higher than the long-established Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp.

However, in response to ESPN's ranking, Liverpool legend Dietmar Hamann expressed his disagreement during an interview. He acknowledged Arteta's impressive work but emphasized that Arteta cannot yet be compared to Klopp. The crucial factor is that Klopp has already delivered important championships for Liverpool, including a Premier League title and a UEFA Champions League title. He also has a record of reaching the UEFA Champions League final three times. In contrast, Arteta has yet to achieve any of these accomplishments, which means there is a gap between him and Klopp, let alone ranking above Klopp.

As an Arsenal fan, at this stage, it's more in line with Hamann's viewpoint. Championships are the most powerful proof of success, and one can only hope that Arteta can indeed lead Arsenal to significant titles. It's been a while since Arsenal won a major championship, and fans are hopeful that this time it will finally come to fruition.

Indeed, these rankings should be taken with a grain of salt. However, Arteta's higher ranking than Klopp may be primarily attributed to Liverpool's disappointing performance in the previous season, while Arsenal secured a second-place finish in the league. This performance disparity likely played a significant role in the rankings.

Rankings are typically based on specific criteria, but they can indeed be a subject of debate and disagreement, which is entirely normal.
