Do you have face blindness? I've been troubled by face blindness for a long time. I remember the most embarrassing incident when I met a client at work, but due to my face blindness, a few days later, I completely failed to recognize him. I recall the client even greeted me, making the situation extremely awkward. I've often been scolded by my boss for not paying enough attention to remember people, but remembering faces is an incredibly challenging task! Face blindness is not a mindset issue; it's genuinely difficult to discern faces. After years of feeling aggrieved, I finally came across this report!

Let's get straight to the conclusion. This research report from Harvard Medical School (HMS) and the VA Boston Healthcare System reveals that face blindness is quite normal, with one in every 33 people suffering from prosopagnosia. This conclusion is based on a survey and tests conducted on 3,341 participants. Initially, researchers asked participants if they experienced difficulties recognizing faces in their daily lives. Then, they subjected the participants to two tests to determine whether they had problems recognizing new faces or identifying extremely familiar celebrity faces.

The results showed that out of the 3,341 participants, 31 had severe face blindness, and 72 had mild face blindness. Additionally, among these affected individuals, face recognition abilities seemed to be continuous rather than sporadic. This result confirms the existence of face blindness. Unfortunately, I've already left that job; otherwise, I'd love to throw this report in the face of my former boss. Back in the day, I struggled a lot with face blindness, especially during social activities or work that required social interactions. Remembering faces each time was a formidable challenge. Although I've improved significantly in this regard over time, focusing on other tasks could have enhanced my efficiency.

So, even when I see a beautiful woman, while my initial impression is that she looks gorgeous, there's a good chance that I won't remember her if I meet her again after a few days. You can see how troublesome face blindness can be from this example. It even diminishes the joy of admiring beautiful women! That can be embarrassing. Personally, I have nearsightedness too, and I'm not a fan of wearing glasses. I often struggle to recognize people from a distance, and it can lead to awkward situations. Plus, with friends you only see occasionally, it's even harder to remember faces. It can definitely leave a bad impression.
