The Indian batting order has always been very strict and rigid. Why is it so? Why can’t we test other players in the front order or maybe at least change the order for a few matches to test other players?

I think India has had a rigid batting order after the 2011 World Cup. Back then we had batters who could bowl a few overs, were excellent fielders and had a champion mindset. But the current team has no batter who could bowl a few overs. That’s why India’s batting order feels rigid.

India has two issues with its batting order. First, there are not enough left-handers in the batting order and second no batter can bowl. This makes the selection committee make a rigid lineup where every player plays in his particular position.. If not, he fails to score runs.

I don't think India’s batting order is rigid. Ishan and KL can bat at the top and middle order while Hardik Pandya can play as an anchor as well as a finisher. Gill is a mature player for his age and can excellently increase his strike rate as the match progresses. Where’s the rigidness?
