Cricket is arguably the most watched sporting event in India. From World Cup accomplishments to being the number 1 team in the world, fans in India consider cricket a “religion” and worship their fan players. With so much craze, football on the other hand has not seen the international team come up with relatable accolades. Despite the game remaining a world favorite name, cricket still steals the spot as far as India is concerned.

Cricket is a game that has a successful board and in-depth academies to choose bright international prospects at different levels. The Ranji Trophy is the domestic tournament, which forms the base for selecting international stars, successfully doing the task of grooming and shaping up players. While BCCI is doing a great job, the same cannot be said for AIFF. The latter remains in hot water with in-board conflicts and fails to provide a similar international-standard infrastructure for prosperous players to shine. Thus, all these reasons allow Cricket to feel more standard and invite top-quality players to the scene.

Although both games have star players and achievers, in terms of reaching the pinnacle, Indian cricket has reached the point multiple times in its decorated history and thus, inviting a large fanfare.
