On October 3rd, according to The Block, Rostin Behnam, Chairman of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), emphasized the need for regulation in the decentralized finance (DeFi) sector during a speech, likening the situation to "unlicensed doctors."
CFTC's Enforcement Director, Ian McGinley, had previously stated in September, "The existence of unregulated DeFi trading platforms clearly threatens the markets and customers that are overseen and protected by the CFTC. This is an issue we take very seriously."
BlockBeats had previously reported that the U.S. CFTC announced enforcement actions in the DeFi space on September 8th, bringing charges against Opyn, ZeroEx, and Deridex and reaching settlements with them. |
