October 23rd News - In the third round of the 2023 League of Legends World Championship Swiss round, TL was defeated by GAM with a score of 1-2, ending their journey in the tournament. After the match, jungler Pyosik sat down for an interview with a Korean media outlet.

Q: How are you feeling right now?

Pyosik: It's a bit... If I had performed better, we could have won the game. I made a mistake in the top lane early on. It was very tough facing Summit before he got his first core item, and I regret that.

Q: Facing GAM today, there must have been a lot on your mind. Given the limited opportunities left and the fact that it's a do-or-die battle, the players must have felt some pressure. On the other hand, GAM is from a minor region, while North America is a major region, so you must have believed you would definitely win, right? I'm curious about your feelings at the time.

Pyosik: Well... I felt that, during my first visit to Worlds, I had already won a championship, so I wasn't nervous on the big stage. I thought that as long as I showed what I could, enjoying the game was important. (Since the other teammates) are rookies, they were very nervous. I could have given them some advice... to Yeon and APA... but I didn't have much free time, so I couldn't offer any advice, and I feel sorry for that.

Q: Yeon and APA seemed quite nervous. Yeon often showed outstanding performance during the Summer Split. But it seems their potential wasn't fully unleashed. I also have that regret.

Pyosik: Actually, both of them are very skilled, but it seemed like they were nervous during this series. During the preparations for Worlds, LCK teams were very strong in scrims, and we lost many games during this process, which seemed to add a lot of pressure.

Q: When GAM won the first game, how was the team atmosphere, and what kind of analysis was done?

Pyosik: Actually, at that time (in the first game), I picked Jarvan IV, and compared to the matchup I was familiar with, the game was developing in a different direction. So the initial plan was disrupted. After the first game, I said, 'Ah, I think I was too nervous; I must pick a carry champion in the second game.' So, the Ban Pick for the second game went very smoothly.

Q: In the second game, when I saw Pyosik pick Xin Zhao and use his ultimate skill in a handsome manner, I thought, 'I'm going to schedule an interview with the winner now.' You must think Xin Zhao is pretty good, right?

Pyosik: Actually, when I was in North America, I played Xin Zhao in 3 or 4 games, but I lost all of them. So, when I first came to Worlds, I generally didn't play Xin Zhao. Instead, I aimed for jungle champions that could create opportunities and maximize our laning strength. But, I don't know how it happened, we were really pushed to the edge of a cliff. After the first game, I confidently said, 'I have to pick a carry champion in the second game.' So, the Ban Pick for the second game went very smoothly.

Q: I'll ask bluntly: why didn't you play a carry champion in the third game? How would it have been if Pyosik picked Lee Sin before the jungle selection was banned? Is it because of regrets that I ask this?

Pyosik: Actually, our mid laner's champion pool isn't very wide. When we were picking the bot lane duo and jungle champions in Ban Pick 1, 2, and 3, if the mid lane was targeted with bans, we judged that our mid laner wouldn't have many options, so in the third pick, we chose Ahri, and then we picked Jhin and Thresh. Regarding Ban Pick, we felt we had a significant advantage, so we picked Jhin.

Q: You seem to be feeling quite regretful after the game.

Pyosik: This is the first time I've been eliminated in the quarterfinals (at Worlds)... We worked hard together this year... In the beginning, I thought we could go further, but our adventure ends here. It's a pity; we could have shown more to our fans. Because, even though I felt that I played very well at Worlds last year, there was still a lot of room for improvement. During my time in North America this year, I gained a lot of experience in shot-calling. What I used to do didn't go smoothly with the mechanisms of League of Legends. If I want to achieve what I often did before, how should I do it? I kept thinking about these things and understood the mechanisms of League of Legends in the process... Even though I felt that I played very well last year, I'm confident in my skills, but I couldn't show much to everyone, so I feel very regretful.

Q: What are your plans for the future?

Pyosik: After...

Q: You probably haven't thought about it at this moment. Normally, you should be scheduling scrim games and preparing for the next match. But in an instant, it's over, and the players must feel empty.

Pyosik: Actually, I don't have any specific thoughts at the moment. First, we've worked hard for a year, and when we have a team dinner later, we'll discuss what

Making money and having a great time in North America, not too much pressure, and even chasing a World Championship spot.

Every time during the draw, you laugh the hardest; you eliminated them, so why are you crying over there?

Pyosik: Actually, our mid-laner's champion pool isn't quite extensive.
