Let's continue with the second part of the top 10 most expensive football transfers in history, and see who the top 5 are. Let's find out if you guessed correctly!

Fifth place: Coutinho (£105 million, 2018, Liverpool to Barcelona)
Coutinho's signing was a spectacular moment of miscalculation for Barcelona, ultimately leading to serious financial problems that resulted in Messi leaving last summer. He was loaned to Aston Villa in January for a total of £142 million, often ranked as the third-largest transfer in history.

Fourth place: Griezmann (£107 million, 2019, Atletico Madrid to Barcelona)
After two mistakes, Barcelona didn't give up on the transfer market. In the summer of 2019, they encountered the hefty release clause for Griezmann, which turned out to be an expensive mistake. The French forward only brought one Copa del Rey to Barcelona.

Third place: Felix (£112.9 million, 2019, Benfica to Atletico Madrid)
In July 2019, some were surprised by Atletico Madrid's massive expenditure on the Portuguese player. Atletico Madrid believed they would get value for their money in the long run. Felix's transfer ranks as the fifth most expensive in history, just behind Dembele and Coutinho, but the initial cost was the third highest in history.

Second place: Mbappe (£163 million, 2018, Monaco to Paris Saint-Germain)
In the summer of 2018, Mbappe transferred from Monaco, shortly after winning the World Cup with France. Following in the footsteps of Neymar's astonishing signing by the Qatar-backed club, the one-year loan period before a permanent transfer seemed to be a compliance with Financial Fair Play regulations.

First place: Neymar (£198 million, 2017, Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain)
Paris Saint-Germain's stunning deal with Neymar in 2017 not only marked the highest transfer fee in the history of the Qatari owners but also changed the transfer market forever. When the previous world record was £89 million, the idea of a £198 million (£222 million euros) transfer fee paved the way for subsequent deals to reach nine digits.

The top 10 most expensive football transfers have all been listed. What are your thoughts on whether these players truly lived up to their value in these transfers?

Neymar's transfer fee is indeed very high, and he is a genuinely talented player, good-looking, and has great commercial value.

Neymar's ability is unquestionable, and without the burden of injuries, he could fully justify this price.
