When you're clearly in control of a game but unexpectedly lose in the end, do you choose to graciously congratulate the opponent and have a friendly chat, or do you express your dissatisfaction in anger? Recently, the Chelsea coach faced criticism for such a scenario. Let me slowly tell you this story.

First of all, last week, Chelsea had a fierce battle at home against Arsenal. Chelsea was leading 2-0 from the start, but Arsenal managed to equalize in the final moments. Given that Chelsea had the upper hand for the first 60 minutes of the match, many Chelsea players were disappointed not to secure the win. Chelsea's coach, Pochettino, expressed in a post-match interview that he felt like they lost two points instead of gaining one.

However, even with such feelings, Pochettino's post-match behavior on the field gave some critics something to talk about. When the match reached its conclusion, after the final whistle, some people noticed Pochettino engaging in friendly conversation with a member of Arsenal's coaching staff. This image was magnified by some media outlets, and the host of the beIN Sports program, Richard Keys, was particularly displeased with Pochettino's actions. He angrily said, ""Am I the only one who thinks there's an issue here? You're the coach of the team that was leading right up until your goalkeeper made a mistake and conceded a goal. Then you walk off the field with a smile on your face, joking with the opponent's goalkeeper coach. Why can't you stand up from your seat, lower your head, walk through the player tunnel in anger for dropping two points, and convey your dissatisfaction when you enter the dressing room?""

However, some argue that this host has exaggerated Pochettino's behavior. It's worth noting that Pochettino and Arsenal's coach, Arteta, were former teammates at Paris Saint-Germain, and Pochettino had even invited Arteta to be his assistant coach. Both coaches had praised each other and the mutual help they provided before the game. So, exchanging friendly greetings after the match is quite normal. Moreover, during post-match interviews, Pochettino also expressed his dissatisfaction with the draw. Hence, there was no need for the host to overreact.

Do you agree with the host's comments, or do you think that prioritizing sportsmanship over the outcome is the right approach?

Pochettino comes across as an amiable person, so his actions aren't that surprising. Additionally, Pochettino and Arteta were former teammates, so they likely have a personal connection. In football, besides competition, there's also room for friendship. While both teams are involved in the North London derby, Arsenal and Tottenham are fierce rivals, but their relationship with Chelsea is relatively friendly. So, I don't find this phenomenon unusual. Furthermore, it's still early in the season, and both teams sharing a point doesn't carry as much tension.

Last season, Spurs had a dismal performance, and for Pochettino, any progress this season is an improvement. He isn't under intense pressure at the moment. As long as Spurs can secure a top-four finish this season, they'll have exceeded their target. After a chaotic start to the season, Spurs seem to be stabilizing and moving in the right direction. Many expected Arsenal to win the match, so a draw might leave Pochettino feeling satisfied. Arsenal is now a title contender. When these two teams meet again, the atmosphere will likely be less friendly. Arsenal may need to fight for the title, or Spurs and Arsenal could be direct competitors for a top-four spot. The second leg of the match will be the true test.

This coach, in my opinion, should be immediately dismissed. They lack team spirit and a sense of honor. Opponents on the field should be treated like enemies on the battlefield. How can you engage in friendly conversation with the opposing staff, essentially your adversaries? It's a complete lack of discipline. If I were the team owner, I'd send them home immediately. Seeing news like this truly infuriates me.

Do friends have to fight or argue after a competition instead of having a friendly conversation? Even countries at war can respect each other's heroes, let alone friends. Have you never heard of the concept that on the field they are opponents, but off the field, they are friends? I think the issue lies with the host. Just because you consider yourself and Arsenal to be arch-enemies, does that mean you have to force the Tottenham coach and the Arsenal coach to be at odds? What about democracy and freedom? Isn't this a form of moral coercion?

It's just one game after all. In fact, the majority of players, coaches, and staff have very good relationships.

I actually think that opponents don't need to turn hostile every time. Perhaps the situation wasn't appropriate, and a little acting is required. Show some restraint in front of the camera. The coaches were too casual.
