"Business involving the Bitcoin exchange Luno (formerly BitX), which reaches into Africa, conducted a survey for its Nigerian customers. The survey found that over half of the respondents believe in the value of Bitcoin as a currency. When compared to gold, more than 45% of people would still choose to hold Bitcoin.

According to Luno's survey, 59.1% of Nigerian customers believe that Bitcoin can function as a currency (24.1% are unsure, and 17.2% do not believe). Among them, 64% use or check their Bitcoin wallets every day, and 25.4% do so weekly or biweekly. When compared to gold, 45.3% of people would choose to invest in Bitcoin, while only 10.3% would choose gold. Others remain uncertain about their choice.

As for why people purchase Bitcoin, 43.6% do it for the convenience of transactions and payments, and 43.2% do it for investment and trading."
