One of the former Chelsea twin stars, Mount, adored by Chelsea fans and considered the prodigy of their youth academy, faced a barrage of criticism from Chelsea fans after his move to Manchester United, with many accusing him of leaving Chelsea for money. So, how has Mount fared since leaving Chelsea for Manchester United?
Unfortunately, Mount arrived at Manchester United with high expectations, but since then, he hasn't shown convincing performances. While Mount is technically versatile, capable of playing as an attacking midfielder, winger, shadow striker, or even as a holding midfielder, his versatility paradoxically made him one of the most featureless players.
In the coach Ten Hag's original vision, Mount's versatility was supposed to enrich his tactical approach. However, despite Manchester United spending £55 million on him, Ten Hag has yet to find a suitable role for Mount. With 11 Premier League rounds played, Mount has only appeared in 7 matches, starting a questioned and minimal 4 times, delivering subpar performances on the field.
His appearances have been a disaster; in 11 outings across competitions for Manchester United, he's contributed only one assist. While goals and assists may not be the primary duty for a midfielder like Mount, his performance in the midfield lacks presence. His passing game, even as a midfielder, is minimal. Consequently, Mount faces criticism from Manchester United fans, while Chelsea fans are relieved to have rid themselves of an underperforming player.
Of course, at 24 years old, Mount has ample time to improve, and the current environment at Manchester United isn't favorable, so his poor performance can't solely be attributed to him. |
