Blind box disaster?

"Throughout, I always believed that blind boxes or lottery machines are a way to risk a little for a chance at a big reward, using a small and affordable price to exchange for substantial prizes. However, my perception was completely shattered when my wife's friend bought a high-end blind box, a Christmas calendar, at an exorbitant price.

Let's start with the blind box my wife's friend bought at a sky-high price. This blind box has a total of 27 countdown slots (from 5 to 31). She thought it was from a prestigious brand, so it must hide surprises, and the items inside should be of decent quality. To her surprise, the calendar gift box was filled with 16 types of various cheap products, such as stickers, temporary tattoos, wax-sealed cord bracelets, etc. There was also a box with nothing inside except for a dust bag. Out of 27 boxes, 16 contained low-cost items – a real disappointment.

Blind boxes are designed to attract people with the prospect of winning big from a small investment, but this one turned out to be the opposite, where you risk a lot for very little. Who would be willing to buy such a thing?

As a side note, there's something funny about it. The maid of my wife's friend thought it was an empty box, so she threw it away after she opened it. She originally wanted to keep it as a memento, but ended up with nothing but an expensive lesson. It's quite amusing for us."
