According to reports from The Mirror, an unfortunate incident occurred last weekend during the "Manchester Derby" in the Women's Super League. Due to falling concrete blocks from the ceiling of Old Trafford, two Manchester United fans were injured. Ultimately, Manchester United Women lost to Manchester City Women with a score of 1-3.

This incident caused chaos and panic throughout the stadium. The referee immediately suspended the match and sent medical personnel to the stands to attend to the injured fans. The players also stopped the game, gathering around the injured fans in prayer. After emergency treatment, the two fans were taken to the hospital for further examination and treatment.

This accident has garnered widespread attention and concern. Old Trafford has long been a symbol of British football history and has always been the home ground for Manchester United. However, this incident once again raises questions about the safety of the stadium.

The incident serves as a reminder that safety issues in football matches cannot be ignored. Fans are an integral part of the game, and providing them with a safe and comfortable viewing environment is essential. It is hoped that efforts will be made in the future to enhance the maintenance and management of stadiums, ensuring the safety of fans is always a top priority.

Photos shared by fans on social media clearly show two decayed concrete blocks on the hall floor. The roof problems at Old Trafford have been criticized for many years. Now, these issues have raised concerns about the safety of Manchester United's infrastructure. It is evident that these facilities require investment and repairs.

Former Manchester United star Gary Neville has openly criticized the Glazer family's neglect of Old Trafford's issues. He stated, "Many have reminded the Glazer family that they need to invest in Old Trafford. However, over the past 20 years, we have witnessed the decline of Old Trafford. It has gone from one of the best stadiums in the world to not making the top ten sports stadiums in the UK and Ireland, which is historically low. In the 2026 European Championship, Old Trafford was not selected as one of the ten host venues, which is ironic for the club. Our stadium is rusting, all because of a lack of investment. The club's management is just too poor, it's truly sad."

However, Neville believes that the club should choose to build a new stadium instead of repairing Old Trafford. He firmly believes that investing funds in the maintenance and improvement of the existing stadium is not as wise a decision as abandoning it to create a brand new and superior super stadium. His perspective is that Manchester United should always be at the forefront of sports facility quality. But currently, they have fallen behind.

The quality of the old stadium is not good either; this risk is significant.
