Low Sales for Solana Phone
Anatoly Yakovenko, co-founder of Solana Labs, mentioned on the ""Unchained"" podcast that the sales of the Solana blockchain phone did not meet the original estimate of 25,000 to 50,000 units. Only 2,200 phones have been sold, which is more than ten times less than expected. He emphasized the necessity for higher sales to build a core user base.
Future Plans for Solana Phone
Regarding the future plans for the Solana phone, Yakovenko stated that the company is currently in discussions, and potential plans include launching new models, enhancing applications, and offering store discounts.
Price Reduction for Solana Phone
On April 14th of this year, during the product launch event for the Saga phone, Solana announced a price of $1,000. However, on August 10th, possibly due to poor sales, Solana Mobile announced a 40% price reduction from the original $1,000, ultimately setting the price at $599.
The pricing received criticism from the community as Saga's hardware specifications were outdated compared to smartphones on the market for almost a year. Despite the price reduction, the sales of Saga have still not reached the expected levels." |
