Bitcoin fundamentally has no unique value; basically, it's a delusion," Buffett told host Becky Quick.
Buffett further explained, "Blockchain is important, but Bitcoin has no unique value at all. It won't create anything else; you can stare at it all day, but Bitcoin won't run away because of it."
When asked about his knowledge of Bitcoin and blockchain, Buffett admitted that others explained it to him. He added, "People hope that this thing (Bitcoin) can change their lives, trying to limit the supply and increase difficulty and raise the price over time. It's a very clever thing, but blockchain doesn't depend on Bitcoin."
During the interview, Buffett did not elaborate on "why he thinks blockchain is important," but he mentioned, "Bitcoin attracts 'charlatans.' If you try to cheat randomly on the street, basically, no one will take the bait. But as long as you can get into Wall Street, there will be a lot of money pouring in. |
