Madhya Pradesh's Avesh Khan, who debuted in ODIs and T20Is last year, joins India's Test squad for the second match against South Africa on January 3. Shami, initially selected pending fitness clearance, didn't receive it and is out of the series. After losing the first Test, BCCI named Avesh as the replacement. Avesh, with six wickets in the recent ODI series, boasts 149 wickets in 38 first-class matches, including seven five-wicket hauls.

The decision is okay, Avesh is a more experienced first-class player with excellent stats. However, personally, I might have given Prasidh another chance, as he bears some resemblance to Shami to some extent.
