It was bittersweet to watch India defeat South Africa in their historic first-ever Test match at Newlands in Cape Town. India took back the top spot in the World Test Champions points table with their seven-wicket victory in four and a half sessions, which happened in the shortest-ever Test match in terms of balls bowled. They had lost the Boxing Day Test by an innings and thirty-two runs, and had fallen to sixth place from first place. However, they were unable to maintain their top Test ranking despite their drawn Test series against South Africa.

Heartbreaking loss of the No.1 Test spot, but the WTC lead is a silver lining for Team India after Cape Town.

Ups and downs for India in the rankings, but that WTC lead after Cape Town speaks volumes about their resilience.
