In the first half, Real Madrid trailed 0-2, but controversial decisions in the second half led to a 3-2 victory. The first goal had suspicions of a foul, and the second involved a potential handball by Vinícius Júnior. Post-match, Almería's coaches claimed the match was robbed, criticizing the referee's unfairness.

As Real Madrid's arch-rival, Barcelona, naturally, joined the criticism. Barcelona's president, Laporta, reportedly complained to the president of the Spanish Football Association. He believed Real Madrid, through their official TV channel, consistently pressured referees. Despite this, referees remained unresponsive, leaving Laporta puzzled.
