On January 20, according to Cointelegraph, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) reported on January 19 that it had received applications for BTC ETF options trading from Nasdaq and the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE).

Reportedly, Nasdaq applied to amend its rules to allow the listing and trading of options on BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust. The Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) applied to list and trade options applicable to "Bitcoin ETPs (Exchange-Traded Products) holding," with six of the 10 spot BTC ETFs approved by the SEC already listed on the CBOE.
